| CANINE
GOOD CITIZEN TEST!
All mix and purebred dogs are
welcome! All dogs must be complete on their vaccinations,
including Rabies. The test will be conducted by an AKC-approved
CGC evaluator. the fee for taking the CGC test is $25
AKC's
Canine Good Citizen® (CGC) Program
Who Can Participate?
All
dogs, including both purebred and mixed breed dogs are
welcome to participate in the AKC's Canine Good Citizen®
(CGC) Program. Dogs must be old enough to have received
necessary immunizations such as rabies vaccines. Owners
will sign the Responsible Dog Owners Pledge attesting
to having the dog under the routine care of a veterinarian
who will work with the owner to determine an appropriate
plan and schedule for vaccines and other health care
procedures.
There
is no age limit for the CGC test. A dog is never too
old to be a good citizen. Puppies who have completed
all immunizations and boosters may be tested, however,
because we know that behavior and temperament can change
over time, when puppies pass the CGC test, owners should
have them re-tested as adults.
There
are a few exceptions relating to participation in a
CGC test. If the CGC test is given at an AKC show, the
age requirements for the show apply to CGC also. Further,
when the CGC test is administered at an AKC show, the
test may be restricted to only dogs entered in the show
or to purebred dogs.
Some
dogs who are entered in CGC tests will have completed
CGC classes or basic obedience classes. Owners who have
trained their dogs themselves may also have their dogs
tested. Clubs and training programs in almost every
city can provide CGC training to owners and dogs who
need to learn a few more skills before taking the test.
All tests must be performed on leash. Dogs should wear
well-fitting buckle or slip collars made of leather,
fabric, or chain. Special training collars such as pinch
collars, head halters, etc. are not permitted in the
CGC test. We recognize that special training collars
may be very useful tools for beginning dog trainers,
however, we feel that dogs are ready to take the CGC
test at the point at which they are transitioned to
regular collars.

Good Citizen testing check out the AKC's web site:

Are
Group Training Classes the best fit for you and your
dog?
- Is your dog having
serious behavioral problems like fear, separation
anxiety or aggression?: If you are having serious
behavioral issues with your dog then private training
is probably a better fit for you. Group training classes
are geared towards obedience training-Sit, Down, Stay,
Come....
- All dogs in our group
classes held at the PFE location need to be extremley
tolerant of other dogs and people. Is your dog friendly
towards people or other dogs or at the least would
your dog be able to be polite around people and other
dogs without reacting aggressively, barking uncontrollably
or becoming very fearful and shutdown? If not then
being in a group class may be too stressful for your
dog.
- Do you like being around
other people and other dogs? Do you find group class
enviornments fun? Or would you prefer personal one
on one coaching for your entire training session?
Excessive barking or
any signs of distress or aggression(posturing, freezing,
growling, lunging, snarling, biting, excessive barking)from
your dog towards other dogs or towards humans will
be grounds for removal from the class. We do not offer
any refunds after the start of class. Dogs dismissed
within the first 3 classes will be eligible for a
credit for 50% of the class cost which can be used
towards a private training session. Our first priority
is keeping our classes a safe and positive experience
for everyone. Group classes are not for every dog
so if being in class turns out to not be the best
fit for your dog that doesn't’t mean your dog
is not a good dog. It just means you may need to start
with some private training first to get ready to be
around other dogs and people.
Class attendance
If you miss a session please contact us to discuss
what was covered and to receive a copy of the homework.
All of our classes at DOGMA the urban dog social club
are taught in a series, for this reason we cannot
permit drop-ins or make-up classes.
Policy on dog
behavior in classes
We reserve the right to decline entry to (or excuse
from class) any dog who presents behavior issues that
may be dangerous, disruptive, or exacerbated by participation
the class. If you have concerns about how your dog
will react in a classroom setting please contact us
on the phone prior to signing up for the class. If
the trainer determines that it is in everyone's best
interest that your dog work with a private trainer
you will be provided with a full refund and a list
of trainers.
Policy of human
behavior in class
We reserve the right to decline entry to (or excuse
from class) any person whose conduct or behavior may
be disruptive to the class. Our classes are reward-based
and focus on dog friendly training methods to help
people teach their pet dogs basic pet-dog manners.
Harsh corrections and/or intimidating training methods
will not be tolerated. We reserve the right to refuse
service to anyone for any reason.
Drop-In class
admittance
All drop-in class attendees must have prior approval
and will be required to sign a waiver before attending
their first drop in class with DOGMA.
Class Cancellations
If the minimum enrollment for a class (4 dogs) is
not met by at least 3 days prior to the first class
session, the class will be cancelled or rescheduled.
We will notify you at least 3 days before the class
was scheduled to begin, to see if you would like to
enroll in a different session or receive a refund.
Unaltered Dogs
in class
We welcome all friendly and social dogs into our classes.
Dogs that are in heat cannot attend class. Refunds
are not available for a dog that cannot attend class
due to her heat cycle.
Health and Vaccinations
You are required to show proof that your dog is current
on his or her vaccinations on or before the first
day of class. By bringing your dog to class you certify
that your dog does not have any contagious diseases.
If at any point during the course your dogs become
ill please call us immediately. Do not bring an ill
dog to training class.
Refunds
Refunds will be provided if you notify us of your
cancellation at least 5 days before the first class
session. All refunds will be sent by mail in the form
of a check. A partial refund (50%) will be offered
if, within the first 2 sessions of a class, a dog
is unable to continue due to injury or illness. A
note from your vet will be required. No refund can
